  • Call to Order
  • President’s Update – Reggie Valentine
    1. Introduced “CARE Board” (Change/Keep/Add/Expectations)
    2. Announced next PTA meeting will be Dec. 3 at 6:00 PM
    3. Pancake Breakfast made $380
    4. School Spirit currently at $1,200
    5. Virtual Art Fair
  • Principal’s Welcome – Dr. Jill McLaughlin
    1. Promoted new Nishuane masks, available soon
    2. Virtual events have been great for our school spirit
    3. Preparing for the planned Nov. 9 reopening
      1. Daily temperature checks
      2. Masks required. We will have remote “Mask Up Monday” where staff wear masks to get students acclimated
  • Snack outdoors when possible
  1. Will share procedures for arrival and dismissal
  2. Question on changes for students staying remote. Answer: learning will be the same for in-person as remote. Schedules will be aligned (ex. Same snack breaks)
  • Class Partner / Teacher Liaison Update – Daniel Garcia-Pedrosa and Marissa May
    1. Eder has asked about materials to use in the classroom for PE. There is a need for bean bags, hula hoops, etc. for class and home.
    2. We have Class Partners for all classes but one Kindergarten
    3. We had a meeting / Q&A session with new and returning Class Partners, plus Mrs. May, to discuss how we can best support our classes and teachers this year
  • Treasurer’s Report – Diane Tehranian
    1. Pancake Breakfast made approx. $1,100 including related Spirit Wear
    2. Virtual Book Fair made $600 profit and $1,100 in donations
    3. Virtual Explorers underway, financials TBD
    4. Art Show made $5,640 including last spring. $1,880 for our Art Department
    5. No major expenses yet. $1,000 teacher stipends, $1,200 for fish tank maintenance
    6. Discussion on the need for 2-3 20’x40’ tenants to place along High St. for bussers. Allen asked who will set up.  Answer: maintenance staff with support from tent committee. (See below under Votes)
  • Committees and Events – Susan Gardner Zartman
    1. Membership update: 128 teachers/parents
    2. Grow Lab (Clio): planning for distribution of materials for paperwhite project to families
    3. Upcoming event: Election Day popup at Van Vleck Gardens 11am-1pm
    4. Annual Thanksgiving food drive is going well
  • Communication Report – Sarah Malcolm
    1. Reminder to join and follow both Facebook groups
    2. Communication through Nishuane newsletter
    3. Trivia Night – possibly Hillside vs. Nishuane
    4. Parent Palooza immediately following this meeting
  • Votes
    1. Purchase tents
      1. Purchase 2 tents from Edgemont immediately for $1,899 each.
      2. Authorize Board to purchase a 3rd tent for $2,099 plus tax, if necessary.
    2. Reimburse Class Partners up to $75 per class, for supplies/activities. Members felt this amount may be too low and may need to be increased later.
